Our recreation therapist is a trained professional who enables a person to acquire the physical and cognitive skills they need to enjoy leisure activities with minimum assistance. They explore and develop new activities should former interests no longer be available to them. Their intervention assists in providing meaning in a person’s life.
Their goal is to help the patient achieve quality of life through fully participating in recreation and leisure activities.
Issues addressed include:
- Educating individuals about the required skills and resources to participate in recreation and leisure
- Improving an individual’s quality of life through recreation and leisure activities
- Making adaptations to recreation and leisure opportunities to help a person fully participate
- Maximizing an individual’s independence using recreation and leisure
