Assessment

The assessment and treatment of traumatic brain injury consists of an interview, cognitive testing, and observation.  Ideally, an interview with the client’s family and/or caregiver is encouraged.  We use standardized and non-standardized assessment tools for the specific areas in question, along with an assessment of the client’s environment.  This is a highly individualized assessment and techniques are based on the injury and client’s needs.  We identify rehabilitation strategies based on our client’s goals and design a functional rehabilitation treatment program that is tailored to them.

Treatment

Our individualized treatment programs focus on our client’s re-learning practical skills needed for daily living.

These can include:

  • Cognitive rehabilitation
  • Communication skills development
  • Psychosocial counselling
  • Training and support with activities of daily living
  • Vocational and academic rehabilitation
  • Recreational/leisure skill development
  • Counselling and education about brain injury
  • Return to Work Programs

Our goal is to assist our clients in gaining increased independence and confidence, and help them reintegrate into their community.
